Nestled along a quiet, unpaved road in the Green Mountains of Southern Vermont, our over 200-year-old inn feels like stepping into a classic New England story. Surrounded by forests, mountain views, and timeless village charm, it’s the perfect home base for exploring—or simply doing nothing at all.

Our historic buildings have been welcoming travelers for generations, and they proudly wear their history. You may notice original wood floors that creak, doorways and staircases with a little character, and walls that weren’t built with modern soundproofing in mind. There are no televisions in our guest rooms by design. Instead, we invite you to enjoy crackling fireplaces, conversation, books, board games, fresh mountain air, and some of the darkest night skies in Vermont. On a clear evening, the Milky Way often steals the show.

Each of our 16 guest rooms is unique, blending classic New England charm with modern comforts. You’ll find new DreamCloud mattresses, luxurious bed and bath linens, locally crafted Dorset Daughters bath amenities, and thoughtful touches throughout. Many rooms also feature fireplaces or cozy sitting areas, and for much of the year, opening the windows lets in fresh mountain breezes and the peaceful sounds of the countryside.
