Time & Location

The Landgrove Studio, 132 Landgrove Rd, Landgrove, VT 05148, USA
About the event
"My work is impressionistic. I like to represent people or places and allow the painting to evolve from the structure of what is recognizable. The challenge is to balance the care needed to make the representation interesting… and perhaps believable, with the freedom, looseness and painterly quality that makes painting so unique and expressive."
Workshop Description from a prior workshop from Michael Holter (subject to change pending updated description).
This workshop will focus on the use of watercolor to paint exciting impressionistic watercolors. You paint from photographs and will explore the use of light and shadow to create interesting compositions. We will discuss and work on turning these subjects into interesting and exciting paintings.
We will examine the fundamentals of watercolor painting to assure that all students are familiar with the techniques. Daily discussions and application of the principles and elements of design will be woven into your painting experience.
Each day you will work on paintings and engage in exercises that will solidify the content that you are working on and spend time viewing current masterpieces. We will discuss the methods and the impact that these artists achieve using their techniques.
Michael will demonstrate his approach to creating his award-winning paintings and show you several high-speed video demonstrations to enhance the instruction.
You will have ample time to successfully complete your own paintings.
