Meet the Artist
In 2001 Kathy Anderson was invited to join a group of painters under the tutelage of the renowned artist, Richard Schmid. This opportunity renewed and revitalized her work and began a period of intense focus and rapid growth. Painting for these last 10 years with Schmid, his wife Nancy Guzik, and the group which has become known as the Putney Painters has provided invaluable support and inspiration.

The vision that she bestows on us with every brush stroke comes from a lifetime of intimate contact with nature. Along with her passion for nature and the interconnectedness of the natural world she is also an avid gardener and spends many pleasurable hours close to the flowers that she paints so magnificently. This close contact with her favorite subject provides her with not just a structural knowledge of flowers but a true love for the flowers, weeds, dirt and detritus of a natural, healthy garden.
Kathy believes in painting from life whenever possible and carries her paints on her frequent travels. While she believes that a well trained artist is able to paint anything skillfully, she has found that the intensity and emotion in her painting flows from her love of her subjects, whether still life, garden, figure, or the intimate landscape.

Mini-FAQ
Can I check out earlier?
Yes. The package runs through the morning after the final workshop day, but you’re welcome to check out one day earlier—on the final workshop day, and thereby subtract $312 for the last night. Check-out of your room is by 9 AM if doing so, before the morning workshop session. When inputting your dates to book, just change your check-out date to one day earlier.

Absolutely — companions are welcome and very much part of the experience. Many spouses and friends join just for the stay — exploring the forest, nearby towns, the pool, or a book by the tavern fire — while still sharing every meal.
Can my partner or friend also take the workshop?
If your companion also wants to paint, add “Additional Workshop Registration” at checkout, or contact us.
